Do you know why rheumatoid arthritis is so often caught late? Because it starts small. A little stiffness, some puffiness around a knuckle, and it all reads as ordinary aches for months. It is important for you to know that this condition rewards early action more than almost any other joint problem, which is why an RA factor test in Delhi is worth booking while the signs are mild rather than once they are obvious.
Your immune system is built to attack germs. In rheumatoid arthritis it attacks the lining of your joints instead, and that misdirected inflammation produces the pain and swelling. Left alone it erodes the joint itself.
The distinction from osteoarthritis matters. Osteoarthritis is mechanical, the result of years of load, so it tends to arrive with age. RA is immunological, which means it can begin at any age and progresses on its own timetable rather than yours.
Joint Stiffness, Especially in the Morning
NIAMS describes the pattern as joint stiffness lasting longer than 30 minutes, typically after waking or after resting a long period. Ordinary stiffness loosens within a few minutes of moving. This does not, which is the difference worth noticing.
Symmetrical Joint Pain
RA usually arrives on both sides at once. NIAMS notes that if you have it in the right hand you may have it in the left, and that matching pattern is one of the more reliable early clues you can spot yourself.
Swelling in Small Joints
The wrists, hands and feet are the common starting points. You might notice swollen or tender knuckles, puffiness around the wrists, or that gripping things has become awkward in a way it was not before.
Fatigue and Feeling Unwell
Because this is a whole-body immune condition rather than a local joint problem, fatigue and a general sense of being unwell often turn up before the joints do.

Why Early Detection Matters So Much
NIAMS is direct about leaving it: without treatment, or where treatment fails, RA can worsen and affect more joints, leading to more damage and disability. So what this means is that the early window is not a convenience. It is when treatment does the most good.
No single test confirms it, so your doctor pairs an examination with blood work.
The thing to note here is how the RA factor is read. It supports a diagnosis rather than delivering one, because the antibody also appears in other conditions and some people with RA never test positive at all.
You do not need to wait for this to become severe. Testing while the signs are mild is the point.
No fasting is usually needed. It is recommended that you note when the symptoms started, which joints are involved and any family history, because that record shapes the interpretation as much as the numbers do.
If the results and your symptoms point towards RA, your doctor may refer you to a rheumatologist and start a management plan. Treatment is genuinely effective now, particularly when it begins early, which is why acting on those first signs is worth it.
